I wanted the killer to be seen on the poster and also for the house to be seen in the background. I realised my original poster didn’t follow the typical conventions in terms of typography and the dominant image featured on the poster. There are two posters that inspired my poster after my first design. My ancillary tasks also followed the typical conventions of a horror film poster. This trailer was very useful to follow typical conventions. I edited my trailer to conform to typical pace of horror trailers like The Women in Black, where the pace of the trailer starts off slow to create tension and suspense then speed up with action shots.

Often in horror trailers they feature bass drops or a clang cinematic which is used to create tension or make the scene stand out more when action happens so that the audience is more inclined to watch. I made sure included POV shots and I tried making use of depth of field, as it makes it harder to see the monster creeping up behind the protagonist. I was also able to conform to the convention of camera angles. Another convention I followed was the use of sound effects in my trailer. I chose to keep this convention as I wanted to be able to use it to make the film seem darker and have a ‘scary’ effect. A key example of how this trailer conforms is the low key lighting which is commonly used in horror trailers. A key trailer that follows the same conventions as my trailer is the You’re Next trailer. My media product is of the horror genre and I believe that in most ways it does follow the typical conventions of real media products.
